Students aren’t the only ones making the grade in Temecula Valley Unified School District; so are its volunteers. One such example is California Coast Credit Union (CCCU) Community Relations Manager Lynn Laing, who was chosen as the Great Oak High School 2006 Volunteer of the Year.
For her efforts to support the Temecula community, Laing was honored at Great Oak High School’s second annual volunteer luncheon.
Laing made notable contributions to Great Oak High School throughout the 2005-06 school year that had a positive impact on both staff and students. She hosted a staff appreciation lunch, conducted workshops about home improvement and retirement planning for staff members and provided incentives for the school’s Staff of the Month program. And to better prepare students for their financial future, Laing held personal finance and job skills seminars and also coordinated a high school career day to help establish Great Oak’s college and career center.
“In her commitment to benefit others, Lynn has contributed much to us this past year,” said Great Oak High School principal Tim Ritter. “Great Oak High School is a far better place and has benefited from her efforts.”
Currently Laing is working with Great Oak High School on the June Relay for Life event to benefit the American Cancer Association as well as serving on the board of Temecula Valley Unified School District Partners in Education and sitting on the district Secondary Curriculum Committee.
California Coast Credit Union, founded in 1929 to serve the financial needs of San Diego teachers, now serves everyone in the educational community and is a major supporter of education-related causes. For additional information, please call CCCU at (877) 495-1600.
