Army cadets graduate from training

RIVERSIDE COUNTY – The following cadets have graduated from military training in their respective bases. Army cadets have trained for nine weeks where soldiers studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

Army Pvt. Armando G. Carrillo has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. Carrillo is the brother of Luis Carrillo of East Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs, and Lisa Carrillo of Keller Road, Menifee. He is a 2012 graduate of College of the Desert, Palm Desert.

Army Reserve Pvt. John Land III has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. Land is the son of Vanessa Coria of Palmbark Street, Vista, and John Land Jr. of Calle Tomas, Sun City. He is a 2012 graduate of Twin Oaks High School, San Marcos.

    Congratulations. What you’ll derive from the experience is second to none, and if you apply yourself in earnest, take advantage of all the education that is available while on active duty, and avoid drugs, etc., you will be amazed at the doors that open up for you to walk through and advance to bigger and better opportunities.
