Six talented young artists from The Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest County have been named winners in this year’s Fine Arts Program on the local level. The program is a comprehensive initiative promoting creativity in a variety of media as well as encouraging artistic skills and cultural enrichment. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest County is one of more than 3,300 clubs in the country recognizing young artists that will have the chance to have their art judged at a national level. The six local winners were chosen for top honors across 11 different disciplines, including monochromatic drawing; multicolored drawing; pastel; watercolor; oil/acrylic; print making; mixed media; collage; sculpture; seasonal and fish/marine life. The students’ artwork was mounted and matted by An Artist’s Touch for display at US Bank in Temecula from January 16 through February 6, 2004. Their artwork will be exhibited at the Musicians Workshop in Temecula for the entire month of March. Selected artwork will be screened at the regional level and a limited number will be sent to The Boys & Girls Clubs of America in Atlanta for judging at the national level. Forty artists will be named and recognized as the national winners of the Fine Arts Program.
