Four graduate Air Force basic training

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, TEXAS – The Air Force graduated four new airmen from the Temecula Valley.

U.S. Air Force Airman Zachary Townsend, U.S. Air Force Airman Chaveonte P. Asher, U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Andres Bernal-Rubi and U.S. Air Force Airman Daniel R. Tegardine Burns all graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in Texas. Townsend earned distinction as an honor graduate.

Townsend is the son of Cambria and Jared Townsend of Wildomar and grandson of Lea Pullen and Judy Enochs of Sun City. The airman is also the brother of Brett Townsend. Townsend graduated in 2016 from Murrieta Valley High School in Murrieta.

Asher is the daughter of Gregory and Sharron Asher of Lake Elsinore. She is also the granddaughter of Shirley Glaspie and niece of Jonathan Florence of Compton. The airman graduated in 2013 from Paloma Valley High School in Menifee.

Bernal-Rubi is the son of Joaquin R. and Sandra C. Bernal, brother of Joaquin Bernalrubi and Vanessa Bernalrubi, and husband of Kiana Bernal of Murrieta. He is a 2010 graduate of Vista Murrieta High School in Murrieta.

Tegardine Burns is the son of Sonia Villasenor and stepson of Arturo Villasenor of Perris, brother of Arturo Morales and Emilia Ford of Temecula and nephew of Felix Burns of Temecula. He graduated in 2016 from Temecula Valley High School in Temecula.

The airmen completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate degree in applied science through the Community College of the Air Force.
