LEUSD Students of the Month honored

LAKE ELSINORE – Seven high school seniors from the Lake Elsinore Unified School District were recently honored. Students are individually nominated by teachers and selected for their character, love of learning, leadership, community service, and perseverance.

Jesse Laine,

Elsinore High School

Jesse is currently on EHS’s Academic Decathlon team. College preferences include UC Berkeley or UC Santa Cruz as a biology major. Entomology is another life-long interest, and Jesse has publicly exhibited his collection and volunteered for programs offered by the LA Museum of Natural History.

Kira Girard,

Elsinore High School

Kira is a valedictorian candidate. Kira plans to attend San Diego State University majoring in athletic training and sports medicine. School life includes participation in ASB and NHS. She recently traveled to Costa Rica on a study trip.

Patrick Dennison,

Lakeside High School

Patrick is active in the Theater Production Management program both backstage and as an actor. He plans to attend University of Nevada, Las Vegas to pursue a degree in entertainment technology. He is quite proud of his problem solving skills, well-honed by the challenges of theater craft.

Roxanne Fierro,

Lakeside High School

Roxanne will attend community college and transfer into a university to pursue studies as a neonatal nurse. She is the ASB VP and also serves as cheer captain. Approaching new opportunities as a servant leader is a life lesson she’s learned while at LHS.

Jesse Grossman,

Temescal Canyon High School

Jesse plans to attend BYU Provo following a two year mission deferral. A basketball sports injury taught him to redirect his focus on academics which he has learned is his real passion. School life includes serving as ASB VP and learning Spanish, and volunteering on Rotary Club’s Youth Leadership planning Committee (RYLA).

Shelby Long,

Temescal Canyon High School

Shelby will pursue studies in political science and environmental policy in preparation to serve in the Peace Corps doing humanitarian work. School life includes NHS, varsity soccer and tennis, and the International Baccalaureate Diploma program, while also working in a part time job after school.

Meah Morones,

Keith McCarthy Academy

Meah plans to attend community college majoring in photography. KMA has helped her successfully stay on track to graduation this spring. Meah is involved in KMA’s PLUS program, peer counseling, and also helps as a caretaker for her nine siblings.
