Murrieta’s Thompson named Distinguished School again

Tom Rodgers presented a California Distinguished School Plaque, a State Resolution and a 2005 Distinguished School flag to Thompson Middle School on behalf of State Senator Dennis Hollingsworth. Rodgers congratulated Thompson students, parents and staff on being selected as a California Distinguished School, saying, “You should feel proud of being selected for this honor again.” Thompson was first named a Distinguished School in 2001. Thompson Principal Dale Velk told those in attendance, “This is your award. Through your hard work and dedication we have achieved greatness!” Along with Principal Velk, Murrieta Valley Unified School District Assistant Superintendent Stacy Coleman, Thompson ASB President Shelby Dudek, ASB Vice President Eric Hamilton, California School Employee Association representative June Helton and Thompson Middle School Teacher of the Year Kirk Green were on hand to accept the award. At the end of the assembly the new California Distinguished School flag was raised and there was a special performance by Thompson’s newly formed drum line.
