Menifee mom seeks Top Model acclaim

A 21-year-old Menifee mom will be a contestant in a televised modeling competition that will unfold over a 12-week period beginning Sept. 8.

After falling short of getting picked for a previous round of “America’s Next Top Model,” Sara Blackamore caught a break this time around by composing and performing a rap tribute to supermodel Tyra Banks.

“It’s obvious that I can’t rap, but I love to do it and it grabs people,” Blackamore said in a Monday afternoon telephone interview. “I have no rhythm.”

The performance caught the attention of the show’s producers, and the 21-year-old Mt. San Jacinto College student was winnowed from about 200 hopefuls as she vaulted from the audition phase into the finals of the popular CW cable show that is broadcast into homes across the country.

The series is a combination reality show and competition in which the contestants share a home as judges evaluate their poise, polish and other attributes during a series of challenges.

The contestants will be judged by Banks and other leaders of the modeling, clothing design and photography industries. They include designers Diane Von Furstenberg and Patricia Field, photographers Matthew Rolston and Patrick Demarchelier, supermodel Karolina Kurkova, IMG Models executive Kyle Hagler and Franca Sozzani, editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia.

The show is produced by 10 by 10 Entertainment, in association with Bankable Productions. Banks is the creator and executive producer along with Ken Mok and Laura Fuest.

The other contestants live in New York, Dallas, Boston, Boise, Baltimore, San Diego, Palmdale and locations in Illinois, Alabama and other states. They include a waitress, a dance teacher, a shoe salesperson, college students and a self-described “wild child.”

They range from 18 to 24 years old, and 5 feet 8
