Bowling league for disabled athletes begins in Murrieta

MURRIETA – Exceptional Sports Bowling (ESP) is a bowling program for disabled athletes, family and friends. All ages and types of disability (physical or intellectual) are welcome.

The mission is social interaction, recreation and fun through bowling. ESP focuses on recreation and not competition.

ESP’s season will begin Jan. 18 and ends June 28. New bowlers are accepted at any time during the season. Bowling takes place every Saturday except the second Saturday of the month.

There is no charge for disabled athletes. Friends and family can also bowl (space is usually available) for $5 which includes two games and shoe rental.

Donations are always accepted. A fundraising yard sale is scheduled for March 8. Donations and buyers are still needed.

The organization was formed in 2010 by Jeff and Mary Nickerson. Ginger Ahlgrim is the head

coach.
