27-year-old motorist dies in collision near Lake Mathews

LAKE MATHEWS – A 27-year-old woman was killed today in a two- vehicle crash near Lake Mathews.

Martha Cruz of Perris suffered fatal injuries when her 2000 Toyota Corolla slammed into the side of a dump truck around 8:30 a.m. on Cajalco Road, about a half-mile west of La Sierra Avenue and roughly three miles east of Interstate 15, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP Officer Travis Monks said Cruz was headed east and rounding a curve at about 50 mph when she lost control of the car, which ”crossed the double yellow lines” and ran into the driver’s side of the truck, coming from the opposite direction.

Cruz, who was not wearing her seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene, Monks said.

The 38-year-old man at the wheel of the larger vehicle was not injured, the officer said.

Your Seatbelt! It’s 2014 people, they are there for a very good reason – to help prevent THIS from happening.

Seatbelts work but in this case I don’t think a seatbelt would have made a differance!

You are a heartless person who has nothing better to do then to make some lame a.. comment on another persons tragedy. This article does not mention all the facts of this accident so before you get balls and comment while hiding behind a computer grow some and use your real name.

May your “seatbelt” save you one day
