6,000 Girl Scouts celebrate 100th anniversary

PERRIS – More than 6,000 Southern California Girl Scouts will be roughing it lightly by Lake Perris today and Sunday to celebrate the scouts’ 100th anniversary.

Members of all ages from the Greater Los Angeles area descended on the grounds Friday night for a ”Camporee,” featuring singing, dancing and other entertainment.

Performers from Radio Disney, the Pasadena Civic Ballet, the all-girl band SledgeGrits and award-winning Broadway actress Leilani Jones Wilmore are all slated to take the stage today, according to organizers.

Along with live shows, the weekend-long event will feature sing-alongs and a range of outdoor activities, organizers said.

Closing ceremonies are scheduled for noon tomorrow.
