Attack prompts lockdown at Hemet school

HEMET – An attack just outside the campus of Acacia Middle School in Hemet Monday, Dec. 11, prompted a brief lockdown at the location, but no students were in harm’s way.

The stabbing was reported about 1:40 p.m. near the intersection of Acacia Avenue and San Jacinto Street, according to the Hemet Fire Department.

There were initial reports that someone was injured on the school grounds, but a campus official said the assault did not involve students or staff.

She said the campus was placed on lockdown as a precaution for roughly 15 minutes while police officers investigated.

Paramedics were summoned, and the victim, whose identity was not released, was taken to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

There was no information regarding an arrest, or whether police were actively looking for a suspect.
