Canyon Lake: 15-year-old boy in critical condition after crashing bike into vehicle

A 15-year-old boy was in critical condition with major head trauma this morning after he broadsided an SUV in Canyon Lake, a Riverside County Sheriff’s official reported today.

Officers from the Canyon Lake Police Department responded to a major injury traffic collision at the 22800 block of Vacation Dr. in Canyon Lake, where they located the boy unconscious, according to a Riverside County Sheriff’s report.

The boy broadsided a Cadillac Escalade when he turned onto Vacation Drive. He impacted the vehicle with enough force to initiate the airbags inside of it, Sgt. J.P. Strang said.

The 59-year-old woman who was driving the vehicle stayed behind and was cooperative with law enforcement officials, according to Strang.

Medical personnel responded and transported the boy to a local hospital for treatment after police arrival.
