Canyon Lake: Residential fire displaces family of four

A small blaze damaged one room and left four individuals — two children and two adults — displaced shortly before 10:30 a.m. today in the 30200 Block of Buck Tail Drive in Canyon Lake, a Riverside County Fire Department Spokeswoman said.

Fire officials first received reports of the fire at about 10:18 a.m. and saw smoke emanating from one of the rooms in the home after arriving on scene, according to Riverside County Fire Department Spokeswoman Melody Hendrickson.

Hendrickson said firefighters were able to keep the fire restricted to just one room before fully containing it at 10:35. However, the incident commander present at the fire deemed the structure uninhabitable, at least for the time being.

The fire spokeswoman said the home could have been deemed uninhabitable for any number of reasons such as risk of smoke inhalation or significant structural damage and that the exact reason was not clear at this point in time.

Estimates of exact damage have not yet been confirmed at this point in time either.
