California Highway Patrol responded to the scene of car fire shortly after 1 p.m. Saturday at the Ortega Oaks Candy Store located at the 34950 block of the Ortega Highway in Lake Elsinore, according to a CHP Incident Report.
One CHP unit as well as members of the fire department arrived to the scene of the fire, according to the report.
The report noted that an elderly couple was standing outside the car; flames were coming out from underneath of it.
Officials were afraid there might be a brush fire due to the car’s proximity to brush, but the blaze appeared to stay contained to the car.
Few other details were available at this time. It wasn’t clear when the fire department extinguished the blaze.
A towing truck was called for the vehicle.
