Domestic violence call leads to officer involved shooting

HEMET – On Saturday, Oct. 28, at approximately 6:29 p.m., Hemet police officers responded to a domestic violence call at a retail shopping center, in the 3500 block of West Florida Avenue.

Upon arrival officers observed a male subject, who was involved in the incident, brandishing a knife. The subject refused to drop the knife after several requests by officers. The subject aggressively advanced towards the officers and an officer involved shooting occurred. No officers or bystanders were injured during the incident.

The officers immediately provided medical treatment at the scene until relieved by medical personnel. The subject was transported to a nearby hospital and treated for his injuries which were considered non-life threatening.

Hemet Police Investigations Bureau responded to the scene and took over the investigation. This is still an active an ongoing investigation and no further information will be released at this time.
