EAST HEMET: Combative man arrested after fighting with officers

EAST HEMET – A man was arrested after allegedly fighting with an officer during a traffic stop Thursday evening, May 11. The violent incident, that brought City of Hemet police officers rushing to help after an officer put out an emergency call for assistance, happened in the area of Monte Vista Way and E. Devonshire Avenue.

The incident began shortly before 8:45 p.m., when a Hemet PD officer conducted a routine traffic stop on a white Hyundai Elantra. The reason for the stop was not immediately known.

When the officer at the traffic stop determined the driver had been driving illegally and told the man they were going to tow his car, he reportedly became combative and began fighting with the officer at the scene, at which time the officer put out an emergency call for assistance from other officers.

Numerous officers from around the city responded to the officer’s emergency call.

Moments before responding officers arrived at the location of the traffic stop, the first officer updated that he taken the man into custody after deploying his taser at the combative subject.

After the man was in custody, medical personnel were summoned to the scene to treat the man for the taser deployment and for minor injuries he received while fighting with the officers.

He was later taken to Hemet Valley Hospital for an OK to book before being booked into jail. Officials have not released the man’s name yet.

No officers were injured during the violent encounter.

“When the officer at the traffic stop determined the driver had been driving illegally and told the man they were going to tow his car.”

99% likelihood the driver was an illegal alien. Can’t believe the nerve of an illegal not only being in the country in violation of the law and then driving illegally but also fighting with a U.S. police officer.
