Fire officials rescue drowning toddler in Lake Elsinore

Three firefighters from Riverside County Fire Department rescued a toddler who nearly drowned in a Lake Elsinore pool shortly before 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, according to a spokeswoman for the department.

The child sustained moderate injuries during his near-drowning experience in a community swimming pool, Riverside County Fire Department Spokeswoman Jody Hagemann said.

Hagemann said paramedics transported the child to an area hospital for treatment by ground ambulance.

The fire spokeswoman encouraged members of the public to visit for tips on how to avoid drowning and near-drowning situations.
