Firefighters from Riverside County Fire Department were battling a 3 1/2 acre blaze today in Nuevo that has power lines knocked down.
Approximately 73 firefighters arrived to the 23400 block of Beech Street in Nuevo — a rural community just east of Lake Perris — to fight the fire, which began not long before 1:15 p.m., according to Riverside County Fire Spokeswoman Jody Hagemann.
Firefighters were able to stop the forward creep of the fire and were working toward containment. No one appeared to be injured in the fire, Hagemann said.
She added that southern California Edison has been dispatched to make repairs to power pole and power lines that were knocked down.
