Free seniors seminar preventing fraud to be held in Menifee

MENIFEE – Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez and the California Contractors State License Board are hosting a free Senior Scam StopperSM seminar. A panel of experts will provide information to seniors on how to protect themselves from becoming victims of fraud and identity theft. Attendees can get answers to their questions and obtain assistance if they have been scammed.

“It is extremely important to our community that we address the rising trend of fraud and identify theft being perpetrated against our senior citizens,” said Melendez. “Senior citizens across the nation have been targeted by scam artists. This free seminar will provide the tools and resources needed to help seniors identify and thwart possible threats.”

The seminar will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Kay Ceniceros Senior Center, 29995 Evans Road, in Menifee.

Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez represents the 67th Assembly District, which includes the communities of Lake Elsinore, Canyon Lake, Murrieta, Menifee, Wildomar and a portion of Hemet. It also includes the Riverside County unincorporated areas of Lake Mathews, Good Hope, Nuevo, and Winchester. She is also a United States Navy Veteran and serves as Vice-Chair of the Assembly Public Safety Committee.
