Gasoline prices drop slightly

RIVERSIDE – The streak of decreases to the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Inland Empire was extended today to a 14th day, but barely, as it dropped one-tenth of a cent to $3.621.

The average price in Riverside and San Bernardino counties has dropped 6.3 cents over the past 14 days, including six-tenths of a cent on Monday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 3.5 cents less than one week ago and 7.9 cents lower than one year ago but seven-tenths of a cent higher than one month ago.

The falling prices are the result of dropping wholesale prices stemming from “reports of large local fuel inventories,” Marie Montgomery of the Automobile Club of Southern California told City News Service.
