Great Oak, Temecula Valley, and Murrieta Valley High Schools advance to next stage of mock trial competition

Eight Riverside County high schools advanced to the next round of an annual mock trial competition, sponsors said today.

The teams competed Saturday and advanced to the “Elite Eight” in the 31st Annual Riverside County Mock Trial Competition. The finalists were Great Oak, Hemet, King, Murrieta Valley, North, Poly, Temecula Valley, and Woodcrest

high schools.

More than a dozen students received blue ribbons during Saturday’s round. In the Outstanding Prosecution Attorney category, Baylee Brown, of King High School, Pierce Ford, of Patriot High School and Misha Perinova, of Poly

High School, were honored.

Fereshta Rashidi, of Chaparral High School, Angelica Delzompo, of Murrieta High School, and Samad Patel, of North High School, were named Outstanding Defense Attorneys.

Perinova was winner of a summer internship in the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office and Patel won a summer internship with the county Public Defender’s Office.

Wednesday’s round is scheduled at 6 p.m. and will be held at the Robert Presley Hall of Justice, 4100 Main St., Riverside. The eight qualifying teams will face off for the semifinals Saturday morning, and the final round is

scheduled Saturday afternoon.
