RIVERSIDE – A large slow-moving low pressure system will bring heavy snowfall to the mountains of Riverside County this weekend, meteorologists said today.
The National Weather Service issued a winter storm watch for mountains areas above 6,000 feet from Friday morning through Friday evening, saying six to 10 inches of snow accumulation was possible.
The agency also said that the mountains will be subject to strong winds, with gusts up to 60 miles per hour likely.
”Residents and travelers into higher elevations in the mountains should be prepared for hazardous winter weather conditions and possible road closures,” an NWS advisory said. ”If possible, carry chains and take extra food and clothing.”
As for the rest of Riverside County, moderate to locally heavy rainfall is expected this weeken
