MURRIETA – Top Ten Reverbnation singer-songwriter Joanna Pearl will sing the National Anthem as part of the Stage 2 Start of the Amgen Tour of California bike race May 13, and also at the opening of the festival at the Murrieta Town Square Park the day before.
The Amgen Tour event will be televised on NBC Sports. In years past, more than 2 million people have watched the race along the California roads. The event will be broadcast nationwide.
“Joanna Pearl is a very talented singer,” said Kimberly Davidson, Business Development Manager for the City of Murrieta. “She did such a beautiful job singing the National Anthem at our Mayor’s State of the City Address in February, that we asked her to come back and sing for this great event as well.”
The kick-off festival, which happens on Mother’s Day, will consist of a 5K Walk for Hope by Michelle’s Place Cancer Research Center.
Pearl returns to support Michelle’s Place for the second time this year. She took the stage to start the race for the third annual Reality Rally with “America The Beautiful” at Temecula City Hall on April 6, and again that evening for the red carpet gala at South Coast Winery to perform her original song “Whispers In The Wind.” Pearl is set to release her first EP this Fall.
Kicking-off the festivities at Murrieta Town Square, Joanna will open both the 5K Relay for Life for Michelle’s Place on Sunday, May 12, at 2p.m. and the Amgen Tour of California Monday May 13, at 10 a.m.
“I am excited to be part of these special events,” said Joanna. “To be able to stand before our community and sing the song that unites us all is an extreme honor.”
