LAKE ELSINORE – A man accused of assaulting a sheriff’s deputy and resisting arrest remained jailed today.
Deputies were deployed shortly before 3 p.m. Saturday to a business in the 31700 block of Riverside Drive after receiving a report of two people who were loitering and refusing to leave, according to Sgt. Nathan Kaas.
When they arrived, they approached Christopher Ambris, 30, who allegedly assaulted one of the deputies and fled, Kaas said.
Ambris ran into traffic on Riverside Drive and walked down the middle of the roadway for about 400 yards before deputies took him into custody.
Andrea Hickey, 20, of Lake Elsinore, who had been with Ambris at the business and followed him down Riverside Drive, was also arrested, cited for trespassing and later released.
Ambris was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center on suspicion of trespassing and resisting arrest. He remained there in lieu of $10,000, according to jail records.
It was unclear if the deputy who was assaulted was injured.
