MURRIETA – A motorist killed when his pickup truck slammed into two trees along Interstate 215 in Murrieta was identified today as a 26-year-old Temecula resident.
Alejandro Alvarez died in the predawn hours Sunday when his 2017 GMC pickup crashed on the southbound 215, just north of Murrieta Hot Springs Road.
California Highway Patrol Officer Mike Lassig said Alvarez was traveling at an unknown speed shortly after 3 a.m. when his truck “swerved” off the freeway, crossed over the shoulder and into the dirt, plowing into two trees. The wreck was discovered less than a half-hour later. Alvarez was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident remains under investigation.
