Man suspected in vandalism of Machado Park in Lake Elsinore

Daniel Rendon, 19, was arrested Tuesday, Oct. 24, in connection with a series of vandalisms at Lake Elsinore’s Machado Park.

Deputies arrested a 19-year-old Lake Elsinore man suspected in a series of vandalism at the city’s Machado Park over the last three months on Oct. 24, sheriff’s officials said.

Daniel Rendon was arrested in the area of Clement and Broadway streets in connection with the vandalism as well as for two outstanding warrants and booked at the Cois M. Byrd Detention Center, according to a Riverside County sheriff’s news release.

It did not appear from online court records that Rendon had yet been charged in the vandalism as of Tuesday.

Authorities say they identified Rendon as a suspect following a “lengthy investigation” by members of the Lake Elsinore station’s Problem Oriented Policing Team.

The park, located at the corner of Machado and Joy streets, has such fixtures as play equipment, tennis courts, restrooms, shaded shelters and parking.

Sheriff’s officials are asking anyone with information to contact investigators at 951-245-3300.
