Man suspected of online tryst with French Valley child

MURRIETA – A 20-year-old Los Angeles man faced charges in Riverside County on Friday, May 18 for allegedly trying to engage in a sexual relationship with a French Valley child whom he met online.

Javier Flores Lopez was booked into a jail in Los Angeles County, then transferred to Riverside County on an arrest warrant alleging contact with a minor with the intent to commit sexual offenses, and distribution of sexually explicit matter over the Internet, sheriff’s Sgt. Jon Wade said.

Bakersfield police arrested Flores Lopez April 18 on suspicion of multiple counts of having unlawful sexual contact with a child under 14, Wade said.

During that arrest, officers allegedly found evidence that Flores Lopez might have been in an inappropriate relationship with a minor in French Valley, and notified local authorities.

The Riverside County sheriff’s department opened an investigation, which resulted in the warrant, Wade said.

Flores Lopez was being held at the Robert Presley Detention Center in lieu of $2 million bail.
