Man suspected of vandalizing building arrested

HEMET – A 20-year-old man was arrested today on suspicion of smashing windows on a building in Hemet.

Adam James Ryer of Hemet was captured by Riverside County sheriff’s deputies after he allegedly shattered two dual-pane windows at the Lake Hemet Municipal Water District headquarters at 26385 Fairview Ave., just south of Mayberry Avenue.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were sent to the location around 2:45 a.m. to investigate a burglar alarm and discovered the broken windows. They searched the grounds and found the suspect, who was allegedly attempting to hide next to a fence, said sheriff’s Sgt. John Morin.

Ryer was booked on suspicion of felony vandalism at the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta, where he was being held in lieu of $5,000 bail.
