MENIFEE – Following an “anonymous report of illegal activity,” sheriff’s officials conducted an investigation and arrested a Menifee resident Thursday, March 16. The woman was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, theft of mail and other charges, according to Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Robert Strasburg.
The investigation began about 6 p.m. when after officials received the tip, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Menifee Police Station responded to a private residence in the 27000 block of Stagewood Street in Menifee.
While at the residence, deputies located and recovered a stolen vehicle.
Authorities also located evidence of mail theft and identity theft, Strasburg explained.
Following their investigation, deputies arrested 58-year-old, Joleen Marie Velky who was booked in the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle, receiving stolen property, three counts of possession of a controlled substance, and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
An online jail records search revealed Velky is being held in lieu of $10,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned at the Southwest Justice Center March 21.
Menifee detectives are continuing their investigation into Velky’s alleged criminal activity.
