MENIFEE – A motorcyclist was seriously injured and his motorcycle was torn to pieces when the man smashed head-on into a utility pole while traveling at high-speed along a rural dirt road. The violent wreck, that snapped a utility pole in half and left motorcycle parts and debris strewn across the unimproved, dirt roadway, happened on Howard Road in Menifee, Monday, May 8.
Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Menifee Police Station and other emergency first responders rushed to the scene of the wreck just after 4 p.m.
When they arrived, officials found the motorcyclist down in the roadway. He was near a downed power pole and surrounded by pieces of his destroyed motorcycle, which was described as a customized, black, Harley Davidson.
Cal Fire/Riverside County firefighter/paramedics treated the victim at the scene before AMR medics transported the man to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
There were no available updates regarding the motorcyclist’s injuries.
Southern California Edison crews responded to the location to assess the damaged pole and power lines. They remained at the scene for several hours replacing the destroyed pole, while officers investigated the cause of the crash.
Their investigation is active and ongoing.
