Mobile home catches fire on Moreno Valley Freeway, prompts closure of eastbound lanes

A mobile home caught fire today while being hauled by a truck on the Moreno Valley (60) Freeway, causing all eastbound lanes to shut down.

Firefighters were dispatched at 9:07 a.m. to the freeway, east of Moreno Beach Drive. The flames were doused within 30 minutes, Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Jody Hagemann said.

Heavy smoke and the flames forced California Highway Patrol authorities to shut down the freeway for two hours.

No injuries were reported during the blaze, Hagemann said, and its cause was not immediately known.
