Motorcyclist dies in crash on Highway 74, east of Hemet

A motorcyclist was killed today by a crash on Highway 74 east of Hemet.

Firefighters were dispatched at 10:48 a.m. to the highway, in the Bee Canyon area approaching the Cranston Ranger Station.

It was not immediately disclosed how the eastbound motorcyclist crashed.

He or she suffered critical injuries and was taken to a hospital, Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Jennifer Fuhrman said.

The rider died at the hospital more than an hour after the crash was reported, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The name was not released pending notification of relatives.
