Murrieta police on Wednesday arrested an 18-year-old and two younger teens who are suspected of leading them on a chase in a stolen car before crashing it and fleeing on foot.
Gabriel Dorado, 18, of Winchester and two Murrieta 17-year-olds were arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, resisting an officer, conspiracy and hit and run, police say.
Dorado was booked into the Cois M. Byrd Detention Center with bail set at $10,000 and released the same day, online jail records show. The two younger teens were booked at Juvenile Hall.
Police say they were doing a patrol in the area of Milkwood Lane and Buckwood Way when they saw a suspicious vehicle with no lights on and tried to stop the vehicle.
The vehicle fled the area at a high rate of speed and additional officers responded, officials say.
At some point, the driver of the suspicious vehicle could not maneuver properly and crashed with a parked car. That’s when three people jumped out and fled, according to police.
Dorado and the two teens were taken into custody shortly after.
Police say they discovered the car had been stolen earlier that night. Inside, they found items from recent vehicle burglaries.
Officers are currently in the process of trying to return the items, officials say.
