Murrieta Motorcyclist Killed in Collision Identified

LAKE ELSINORE – A motorcyclist was killed today in a collision with a delivery truck while attempting to pass the vehicle as it went into a turn in Lake Elsinore.

The collision occurred around 12:30 p.m. near the intersection of Riverside Drive and Joy Street, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

”Witnesses said the truck was turning into a parking lot (just east of Joy Street) when the motorcyclist attempted an illegal pass on the right,” according to a department statement. ”The motorcycle drove into the side of the truck and skidded to a stop underneath the truck.”

Firefighters arrived moments later and dislodged the badly injured man, whose name was not immediately released.

He was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, sheriff’s officials said.

The delivery truck driver was not injured. According to a sheriff’s sergeant, the driver showed no signs of intoxication and voluntarily submitted a blood sample as evidence.
