One killed, one injured in single vehicle crash in Moreno Valley

The Riverside County Coroner’s office has identified the man who was killed when he was ejected from his sport utility vehicle when it crashed in a Moreno Valley dirt lot. He was 24-year-old Crox Alvarado of Moreno Valley.

Coroner’s officials were waiting to release Alvarado’s name until his family could notified.

One person was killed and another was critically injured early today as they were flung out of a crashing sport utility vehicle and into a Moreno Valley dirt lot, a sergeant said.

The crash was reported at 3:14 a.m. on Heacock Street near Eucalyptus Avenue. Deputies found a Toyota 4Runner was found in the lot east of Heacock Street, Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Bill Guimont said.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene, while a second was taken to a hospital for treatment of major injuries.

The coroner’s office did not publicly name the dead person as relatives were to be notified.

The single-vehicle crash forced the closure of Heacock Street in both directions, about a half mile south of the Moreno Valley (60) Freeway, for more than seven hours as sheriff’s deputies investigated, Guimont said.
