Outage Affects More Than 1,600 Customers in Hemet

HEMET – A faulty underground cable in Hemet caused an overnight blackout that initially affected more than 1,600 businesses and homes, a Southern California Edison spokesman said today.

The outage was reported at 11:43 p.m. Friday and began on Lyon Avenue, affecting a total of 1,673 SCE customer accounts. Work crews restored power to all but 252 meters this morning, SCE spokesman Robert Villegas said.

A full restoration of service was estimated by 4 p.m. today, Villegas said.
