Probationer arrested for possession of cocaine after being stopped for riding without safety gear

LAKE ELSINORE – A probationer was arrested in Lake Elsinore today for allegedly being in possession of cocaine.

Alvin Eugene Heads, 52, was stopped around 1:30 a.m. by sheriff’s deputies in the area of Auto Center Drive and San Jacinto Road after he was spotted riding a bicycle without a headlight or any reflective safety gear, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

After learning Heads was on probation, the deputies searched him and discovered “an ounce of powdered cocaine,” said sheriff’s Sgt. David Cardoza.

Heads was booked into the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta on suspicion of possession of illegal drugs and probation violations. He’s being held in lieu of $25,000 bail.

According to court records, the suspect has multiple felony convictions, mostly drug-related. He was sentenced to 36 months probation in January 2013 for illegal possession of controlled substances.
