Public encouraged to participate in bone marrow screening event to help save lives

Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department, along with LifeStream, will host a bone marrow screening drive on Friday, January 4 from 1 to 5 p.m. in the parking lot of the Sun City Fire Station #7, 27860 Bradley Road, Sun city, CA 92586.

This event is in support and recognition of Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputy Salvador Aguirre. Unfortunately, this past May, Deputy Aguirre was diagnosed with Acute Monocytic Leukemia (AML) and is in desperate need of a bone marrow transplant.

The goal of this drive is to raise awareness, ignite the hopes of patients in need, and help grow the registry.

These efforts can help save the life of Deputy Aguirre and any patient in need of a bone marrow transplant.

Once an individual is registered, they will become part of every patient’s search for a matching marrow donor.

“Together we can all make a difference in someone’s life,” said organizers.

Please contact the CAL FIRE/Riverside County Public Affairs and Education Bureau at (951) 940-6985 with any questions regarding this event.
