Republican Mary Bono Mack and Democratic challenger Raul Ruiz to debate tonight

PALM DESERT – Republican Rep. Mary Bono Mack, who is seeking reelection in the 36th Congressional District, and Democratic challenger Raul Ruiz will debate live on television tonight.

The one-hour debate will be shown at 7 p.m. on KMIR Channel 6, the Coachella Valley’s NBC affiliate, and KPSE Channel 13. The debate will be streamed live on The Desert Sun newspaper’s website, mydesert.com, and kmir6.com.

A panel of three people — moderator and KMIR anchor Gino Lamont, Desert Sun political reporter Erica Felci and KMIR anchor Elizabeth Beaubien — will ask the candidates questions.

The debate will focus on issues relevant to the Coachella Valley as well as domestic and foreign policies.
