Riverside Polytechnic High School beat out its cross-town rival, King High, for the second straight year in the Riverside County Mock Trial Competition.
It was the fourth straight win for the Poly team, according to a spokesman.
Saturday morning’s final round in the 31st annual Riverside County Mock Trial competition in downtown Riverside pitted Poly defense team against a King team of youthful prosecutors arguing the fictional case of a high school student charged with the second-degree murder of another student.
The make-believe case was argued before a real judge and scored by a real attorney, spokesman Craig Petinak said.
The match followed a month of countywide mock trial competitions that initially started with 26 teams. Poly will represent the county at the state mock trial competition set for March 21-23 in San Jose, Petinak said.
