SAN JACINTO: Elderly woman injured fending off home invasion robbers

SAN JACINTO – An elderly woman who tried to fend off a group of attackers during a home invasion robbery was injured during the incident Thursday, April 6. The home invasion happened in the 100 block of S. San Jacinto Avenue in San Jacinto.

The elderly resident, who was not identified for her protection, was later treated at the scene for injuries she received during the struggle. She survived the robbery and attack with minor injuries.

Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s San Jacinto Police Station responded to the residence about 8:05 p.m., after sheriff’s dispatchers received a 911 call from the victim reporting the robbery, Sgt. Robert Duckett explained in a written press release.

Duckett reported that during their investigation, deputies determined several subjects entered the victim’s residence wearing hooded sweatshirts and ski masks.

The victim confronted the suspects during the violent encounter, resulting in her injuries.

When the suspects realized another family member was at the home they “then stole the victims purse from her possession,” before fleeing from the residence in an unknown direction according to Duckett.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
