MURRIETA – Southwest California Pageants recently crowned 18 local girls and young women as part of its pageant for Temecula and Murrieta. The event was held at Bella Vista Middle School in Murrieta on Saturday, March 16. Children’s Pageant for girls ages 3-10 years was conducted early in the day and the Teens & Miss Pageant for young women for ages 11-21 years was held in the evening.
“The young women and girls selected to represent Temecula and Murrieta, will serve as good will ambassadors for their communities and take on the responsibilities of being a role model to their peers,” said Southwest California Pageants Director Anne Bowman. “SWC Pageants emphasizes community service as a way of building leadership skills and self confidence. We want these young women to be proud of themselves because of what they have accomplished, not what they look like.”
Teen and Miss contestants take part in rehearsals and training prior to the pageant to prepare for the competition. Contestants have a personal interview with the judges in the morning and then participate in sportswear, evening gown and on-stage question for the evening pageant. All contestants in middle school and high school are required to submit a letter from their school counselors verifying that they are in good standing academically and not under any disciplinary action. Additionally, all contestants are required to live or attend school in the city which they wish to represent.
