Small brush fires cause southbound I-15 traffic near Rancho California exit; citizens aid in containing flames

A series of approximately six small brush fires that sprouted along the southbound I-15 highway caused traffic to be backed up from Rancho California Rd. to Murrieta Hot Springs, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Citizens attempted to put out the flames with water until firefighters arrived.

Upon arrival, firefighters were able to contain the brush fires quickly and put them out.

All lanes remain open.
