A suspicious package forced the evacuation of two businesses in Perris but bomb squad members later found it was harmless, a sergeant said today.
Dispatchers received 911 call at 9:05 p.m. Friday about a package, wrapped with electrical tape, found on the ground against a wall in the 200 block of C Street, Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. John Burke said.
Deputies set up a perimeter that included the evacuation of the businesses and closure of C Street. A bomb squad was called out and squad members determined the package posed no threat, Burke said.
No one was arrested in the connection with the suspicious package. Deputies asked anyone who knows about it to call the sheriff’s Perris station at (951) 210-1000.
