A 55-year-old Temecula man who molested a girl over a four-year span was sentenced today to 50 years in state prison.
Sean Fitzpatrick Damewood pleaded guilty last month to five counts of forcible lewd acts on a child under 14 years old.
Under the plea agreement, in exchange for his admissions, the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office dropped 99 related charges against Damewood, including oral copulation of a child under 10 years old and exposing a minor to pornographic materials.
Superior Court Judge John Monterosso certified the plea deal and imposed the sentence stipulated by the prosecution and defense.
Damewood was arrested in early January following a sheriff’s investigation into allegations made by the victim, identified in court documents only as E.N.
According to sheriff’s Sgt. Dean Spivacke, deputies uncovered evidence that the girl had been sexually exploited by Damewood between the time she was 5 and 9 years old.
Damewood was described as a “long-time friend” of the victim’s family, Spivacke said, without providing additional details on where and under what circumstances the sexual abuse occurred.
According to Spivacke, when detectives went to question Damewood at his residence, they discovered he had “fled the area.” However, he was tracked down and taken into custody without incident in San Diego.
Damewood had no prior felony or misdemeanor convictions in Riverside County.
