Toppled power pole triggers fire in Wildomar

WILDOMAR – Collapsed power lines sparked a fire along a Wildomar roadway today, but no injuries were reported.

The blaze broke out about 12:30 p.m. on Mission Trail, between Bundy Canyon Road and Corydon Street, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Fire personnel arrived at the location within minutes and found a power pole in flames, with transmission lines down across Mission Trail, said fire department spokeswoman Jody Hagemann.

Sheriff’s deputies immediately closed the roadway in both directions.

Hagemann said the fire was confined to a small space and contained around 1 p.m.

Southern California Edison crews were securing the lines and making repairs, which were expected to be completed by 2 p.m.
