Truck carrying 77,000 lbs. of corn flips over on Moreno Valley Freeway

Seventy-seven thousand pounds of corn were in a truck that that tipped over, but stayed intact, at the major Riverside freeway interchange today.

The cloverleaf-style connector from eastbound Moreno Valley (60) Freeway to northbound Interstate 215 remained closed six hours after the crash. Unloading the corn needed to precede removing the truck, a California Highway Patrol dispatcher said.

All lanes of the mainline eastbound 91 to northbound 215 lanes were blocked by the wreck at 3:03 a.m., and traffic was taken off the freeway at Spruce Street. Two lanes were reopened at 7:12 a.m.
