TEMECULA – Two young Temecula residents were killed when their car went out of control and struck a tree in Escondido, a crash that was apparently alcohol-related, a police lieutenant said.
Miguel Magana Arias, 20, and Nieves Alejandra Ruiz, 17, were found dead inside the vehicle around 11:15 p.m. Saturday in the 1600 block of East El Norte Parkway, Lt. Chris Wynn said.
Physical evidence showed the car was going too fast as it traveled west and went out of control when Arias made a sudden lane change, Wynn said.
The car struck a curb and then hit the tree, and the victims apparently died instantly, he said. Neither wore a seatbelt, he said.
Wynn said no other cars were involved in the crash.
Police asked anyone with information on the crash or victims to call Officer Steve Braucht, a traffic investigator, at (760) 801-9570.
