Urban and small stream flood advisory issued – SoCal experiences hail

SAN DIEGO COUNTY VALLEYS-SAN DIEGO COUNTY COASTAL AREAS-SANTA ANA MOUNTAINS AND FOOTHILLS-SAN BERNARDINO AND RIVERSIDE COUNTY VALLEYS -THE INLAND EMPIRE-

The National Weather Service in San Diego has issued an Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for Southwestern Riverside County and Northwestern San Diego County until 6:15 am this morning (Wednesday).

Loud thunderstorms and rain has been falling throughout the night. At 3:21 am Doppler radar continued to indicate moderate to heavy rain falling over recent burn scars in areas of Camp Pendleton. Minor flooding is expected at this time however if moderate to heavy rain continues, flash flooding could be possible.

At about 4 am and again at 4:45 am heavy rain and hail was experienced in Fallbrook, in addition to thunder and lightning throughout the night.

Precautionary and preparedness actions – A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated or ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

    Putting it mildly, it had to be the loudest thunder I have ever experienced, it knocked me out of bed!

    It’s good for Fallbrook. Our fruit trees are benefiting from the rain.

    That was awesome. I haven’t heard thunder and lightning like that in years!! Loved the rain, too!!! It was so close there has to be a lot of trees down. Please post!!

    I’ve been up since it started around 1:30am. And then the hail around 4am. I looked out the back patio and saw a sheet of white. Amazing the weather we have right now.

    We received over 1/2" of rain this morning in south Hemet. Crazy thunder/lightning show too!
