Vegetation fire in Temecula contained at less than 1/4 acre

Firefighters responded to a fire that began in Temecula this afternoon, according to a firefighter on scene.

On Tuesday, Jan. 15, a small vegetation fire was reported behind the post office on Rancho California Road around 2 p.m. Cal Fire and Riverside County Fire departments responded to the scene.

According to the firefighter, the fire began on the hillside in the southeast corner, behind the chain link fence that encloses the post office employee parking lot.

Due to rapid response, the fire was contained to 1/4 of an acre or less.
